Born in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Bound for Black Rock City.
ALUNA is an interactive sculpture from Colombia that transforms vibration into living geometry, where Tayrona ancestral thought, cymatics, water, and human presence converge.
The Origin of ALUNA
In Tayrona thought, Aluna is the invisible dimension where intention precedes form. Where thought, memory, and order arise before anything takes shape in the world.
ALUNA The Frequency of Being translates that understanding through water, sound, light, and human interaction.
What the Tayrona knew as cosmological principle, cymatics makes physically visible: vibration organizes matter. Sound gives form to what was formless. The name and the mechanism describe the same truth.
Through interaction, that truth becomes tangible. What you choose to emit, the frequency you set and the intensity you bring directly shapes what appears. Vibration affects matter. Presence shapes perception. The invisible organizes experience.
That is not only what the sculpture demonstrates. It is what it asks you to consider about yourself.
Not only a sculpture, but an encounter with the unseen forces that move through us and around us.
A simple interaction reveals a powerful truth:
vibration shapes form.
Three physical controls for visitors to adjust frequency, waveform, and intensity, translating intention into signal.
Vibration travels through water, the surface responds by forming and dissolving geometric patterns that no two visitors will see the same way.
A camera captures the water's geometry and sends it upward through a holographic display, what you felt becomes what the sculpture broadcasts.
Why It Matters
ALUNA is built on a principle that extends far beyond the sculpture itself.
Cymatics demonstrates something verifiable and profound: vibration organizes matter. What cannot be seen still shapes what can. Sound, frequency, and wave, forces we normally experience only as sensation, leave a physical imprint on the world.
The piece extends that principle outward. If vibration shapes water, it may also shape what we carry and what we emit: the quality of our presence, the energy of our words, the resonance of our attention.
Vibration
The invisible force that organizes matter.
Water
A living surface where the unseen becomes legible. Where science and symbol meet.
Presence
Every gesture, word, and frequency carries impact. ALUNA makes that visible.
The Work
The Artwork
Standing 12 feet tall on the playa, ALUNA draws its visual language from Tayrona goldwork and the myth of El Dorado, not as pastiche, but as material memory.
Golden brass, mirror stainless steel, carved wood, Sierra Nevada stone, borosilicate glass, and water. Each element chosen for what it holds: weight, reflection, memory, resonance, transparency, life.
Beneath the surface, a sealed cymatics chamber, three physical controls, a real-time water system, and a holographic display transform the body of the sculpture into a living instrument.
Ancestral knowledge. Contemporary expression. Built to last.
From the Sierra to the Playa
The Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is the world's highest coastal mountain range, and the most sacred for the Tayrona people, who have called it home for millennia and have developed a cosmovision in which Aluna, the invisible plane of intention and memory, precedes all material existence.
ALUNA The Frequency of Being carries that origin 4,500 miles, from the mountain to the desert. Between those two landscapes: a dialogue about what grounds us, what calls us, and what we carry between worlds.
Part of what ALUNA generates returns to its source through partnerships with local foundations, environmental recovery, circular economy initiatives, and educational infrastructure in the high Sierra, so resources from the project support the communities whose knowledge inspired it.
The Tayrona aesthetic informs ALUNA's visual language. The commitment to those communities is how we honor that, not simply borrowing from it.

Your support takes this from vision to the playa, and beyond.
ALUNA has been conceived, designed, and selected. What it needs now is the material support to complete fabrication, move the piece across continents, and build it on the playa in August 2026.
Every contribution, at any scale, is part of the work itself.
